
District IT High School Student Apprenticeship (Francis Howell Students Only)
Job Description
The FHSD IT Department is seeking a motivated High School Junior for the upcoming academic year to participate in a unique career education and technical training opportunity. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in Technical Support and Information Technology through supervised, real-world learning experiences.
The selected student will work closely with the FHSD IT Department to gain practical experience in technical support, troubleshooting, customer service, and educational technology systems. The program is expected to provide approximately 2,000 hours of career training over the course of the apprenticeship.
Salary
$16.41 per hour
Schedule
- Summer, Fall, and Spring Breaks: Approximately 32 hours per week
- Junior and Senior Academic Years: Approximately 3 hours per school day
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic technical support and troubleshooting
- Support staff and students with technology-related issues
- Help maintain computers, devices, and technology equipment
- Assist with software installation and updates
- Learn and apply IT best practices and customer service skills
- Work collaboratively with IT staff on daily operations and special projects
Qualifications
- Current High School Junior
- Strong interest in Information Technology or Technical Support careers
- Basic computer and troubleshooting skills preferred
- Willingness to learn and work in a professional environment
- Dependable, responsible, and able to communicate effectively
