Job Description

Qualifications:

Primary Purpose:
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
Ability to work well and in a positive manner with staff, students, and public
Ability to use computer software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in all written plans.
  2. Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and  interests of students.
  3. Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
  4. Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
  5. Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
  6. Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building
  7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,  and facilities.
  8. Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
  9. Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
  10. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and  lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
Environment: Exposure to biological hazards
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

Daily Rates for Teacher Substitutes:
Non-Certified Substitutes substituting in a teacher role - $90.00
Certified Substitutes substituting in a teacher role - $95.00
