What is the opportunity?
Personal Financing Products (PFP) is seeking a naturally curious problem-solver with a passion for details on our Business Risk and Regulatory Initiatives team. This role supports all of PFP with respect to business risks, incident management, operational processes, remediations, forms changes, and regulatory impacts.
In this role, you will engage regularly with senior management, product owners, Compliance, General Counsel Group, Operational Risk, IT and Banking Operations partners to investigate and determine possible resolution for operational issues. You will champion ongoing risk mitigation and effective leveraging of “lessons learned” across all PFP products. You will be responsible for supporting specific initiatives and remediations, and development of new / enhanced processes with impact across PFP.
What will you do?
Demonstrate knowledge of existing regulatory requirements pertaining to Home Equity Financing, Personal Lending and/or Auto Finance, and the potential issues with any new Regulatory changes.
Conduct validations of financial calculations pertaining to cost of borrowing, loan interest, mortgage interest, and mortgage prepayment charges.
Support the Director, Business Risk & Regulatory Initiatives on projects, investigations, and reviews of processes and regulations to identify and eliminate the risk of regulatory and other risks.
Manages small to medium size regulatory issues (Operational Risk Management assessment, regulatory, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Quality Assurance), through remediation / conclusion, working collaboratively with internal partner teams.
Assists with high quality execution of regulatory activities such as balancing of remediation accounts, completion of Operational Risk Events, and document changes.
Leverage RBC Assist to simplify and optimize daily activities such as conducting research, summarizing and draft content, and analyzing data.
Helps build a risk-resilient culture across PFP.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Experience in financial services sector, and strong knowledge of credit processes and operations.
Proven business acumen and credibility
Strong influencing, collaboration, and relationship building with excellent oral and written communication skills
Strategic mindset, with knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization
Understanding of the Project Management Framework, Systems Development Lifecyle, User Acceptance and Post-Implementation testing, and Agile practices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature and comfort in challenging current practices.
Nice to have:
Experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Internal Audit.
Knowledge of financial services regulatory landscape and Financial Consumer Protection Framework Regulations
