Job Description

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer (Pressure Vessels) oversees quality activities at fabrication sites in the Oil and Gas sector and may manage a small team of third-party inspectors.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate quality inspection and testing activities.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and monitor work for Quality Inspectors.
  • Raise and follows up resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Expedite fabricator activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards and Project Specifications.
  • Coordinate Mechanical Completion (MC) and Closing of Inspection Test Reports (ITR) on time.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documents such as ITPs, fabrication and NDT procedures, NDT reports, etc.
  • Oversee compilation and review Manufacturing Record Books (MRB) by suppliers.
  • Manage and close out supplier Service/Product Quality Incident Reports; lead investigations to prevent recurrence; manage Supplier NCR process.
  • Communicate issues and bottlenecks to Project Management Team.
  • Capture lessons learned; recommend training or necessary feedback for implementation.
  • Lead process improvements and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • This requires short- and medium-term assignments (1-12 months) at various fabrications shops within Brazil and occasionally abroad.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or other engineering degree.
  • Experience in a Quality Inspection/Supervisor role.
  • Experience in fabrication shops or shipyards (modules, skids, pressure vessels) in Offshore/FPSO Projects.
  • Expertise in ASME Section VIII Div. 1, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3, ISO, API, and NR standards.
  • FBTS welding inspector level 1 certification.
  • NDE Certified: ABENDI (VT, PT, MT, RT or UT) Level 2 preferred.
  • ABRACO coating inspector level 1 / NACE CIP level 2 preferred
  • Pressure Vessel or Piping certified fabrication inspector by ABENDI (ABNT NBR 16278).
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA Drawings, Isometrics, and Fabrication Drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced English.
  • Availability for travels.
