What does a Residential Care Supervisor 1 do?

  • Works under the supervision of the Program Director & is knowledgeable of ICF/DD Guidelines.
  • Supervises assigned direct care staff in Day Program & assigned unit (i.e. evaluates staff, initiates disciplinary actions, commendations, makes recommendations for final outcome of discipline, attends pre-disciplinary meeting, responds to step 1 grievances and ensures compliance with union contract).
  • Monitors staff’s compliance in active treatment, documentation (such as progress notes, behavior data). 

    All documentation for programing will be maintained in (EHR) Point Click Care.

     

  • Models positive interaction with individuals who reside at WDC through direct care program implementation.
  • Ensures compliance with Medicaid Guidelines/Standards.
  • Reviews and prepares purchase requests for Day Program, assigned unit, and/or individuals; coordinates shopping for individuals. 

  • Ensures linen needs are met, marked and disposed of correctly.

  • Orders supplies and maintains inventories that reflect current status for Day Program, assigned unit, and/or individuals.

  • Ensures necessary and designated Day Program and individual documentation is completed accurately and timely in Point Click Care. 

  • Plans and organizes campus events and activities.

  • Attends in-services, meetings (such as Individual Plans, House special Program, supervisory conferences and seminars).  

  • Relieves direct care staff when necessary.  

  • Performs shift supervision as scheduled (Shift Supervisor).

  • Performs other related duties (i.e. escorts individuals on field trips, community outings, assists with individuals on living units when necessary).

24 months' training or 24 months' experience in providing care to patients &/or in participating in development &/or carrying out of patients' habilitation plans & preferably for those who had developmental disabilities or mental disability, & in implementing & carrying out same.

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to residents who have maladjustment or display violence; may be required to work weekends & evening shift or at off ground locations. 

  • Hourly wage will be paid at step 1, unless otherwise specified by collective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.
  • The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123-2-02, “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  • The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
