Job Description

About AXA: AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence. AXA UK Support Functions look after our three customer-facing business units, providing the infrastructure and expertise to make sure we can be there for our customers. Job overview: We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Privacy Practitioner to join our AXA UK Chief Operating Office (COO), within the Risk team. In this role, you’ll support the UK COO by helping to shape and implement innovative solutions to improve legacy technology, with a focus on embedding privacy by design principles from the earliest stages. You’ll work closely with internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into decision making and design processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our risk management and technology transformation efforts, helping to safeguard data and support strategic change. Key responsibilities: Establish integration with UK Chief Information Office (CIO) committees and forums to ensure early awareness and engagement in infrastructure and technology changes from a data protection perspective. Promote privacy by design by flagging key privacy considerations early and challenging designs that don’t meet legal and regulatory requirements. Facilitate prioritisation of technological change within the UK COO function, managing competing priorities and engaging senior stakeholders effectively. Act as a conduit between the COO Risk Office and the 2nd Line Data Protection team, ensuring governance processes are followed. Ensure all activities align with the AXA UK Privacy Framework, Privacy Laws, Regulations, and Group Standards. Incorporate strategic thinking aligned with UK business objectives and transversal delivery across AXA Health and AXA Insurance. Conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Impact Assessments (LIAs) for projects, recording processes to evidence compliance. Support the embedding of privacy considerations into all technological change activities, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance from the outset. Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition. Your skills & experience: Strong technical knowledge of IT architecture, systems, and application mechanics. Significant experience in a Data Protection oversight role, such as practitioner, advisor, or manager. Certified with recognised bodies like IAPP CIPP/E, ISEB, PDP, or working towards these qualifications. Experience working in large, complex organisations, preferably within finance or insurance sectors. Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to work across levels of the business to engage and influence. Capable of clearly communicating privacy and legal positions to senior stakeholders, escalating to the 2nd line Data Protection team when needed. Ability to work under pressure and prioritise for positive outcomes. Methodical and organised in approach to work and problem solving. As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom. We’re proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer and don’t discriminate against employees or potential employees based on protected characteristics.
