Job Description
The Communicable Disease - Public Health Educator provides health education resources and programming to help individuals, families, and communities prevent and control communicable diseases. This position collaborates closely with Communicable Disease Program nursing staff and provides education on a wide range of communicable disease topics including Lyme disease, rabies, syphilis, tuberculosis, measles, and more. The Communicable Disease Public Health Educator will: Conduct in-service and community-based educational programs on communicable disease topics Develop communicable disease educational materials for the public, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local government Attend community meetings and health fairs to understand community issues and build relationships with community members Teach classes or otherwise disseminates health information to school groups, community groups, families, and individuals in a manner consistent with cultural norms NOTE: This is a Wake County Public Health position and influenza immunization is a condition of initial and continued employment, subject to compliance with federal law. This position actively supports and participates in department emergency preparedness and response activities, which may include temporary changes in responsibilities and working hours
