Job Description
The Opportunity
Qualified candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with at least one of the following endorsements:
- Autism (SV);
- Cognitive Impairment (SA);
- Emotional Impairment (SE);
- Learning Disability (SM).
The ideal candidate will use creative instructional strategies along with best practices for classroom
teaching which promotes interactive learning and student engagement through technology, literature, and writing. The candidate must be adept with technology and ready to consider emergent techniques to enhance student achievement. Candidates will also:
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction to students in both individual and small groups within a resource/inclusion room environment;
- Demonstrate ability to design and implement effective instruction;
- Main appropriate and accurate records;
- Adapt general education, special curriculum, support materials, and instruction strategies to meet individual student learning styles;
- Serve in a consultative capacity with individuals and groups, including teachers, parents, and students;
- Coordinate and attend MET and IEPT meetings for students assigned to your caseload;
- Knowledge of disabilities and their educational implications;
- Working knowledge of special education state and federal laws, rules, and regulations;
- Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for the requirements of the position.
