Position Summary
Waste Connections, is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to join our evening shift maintenance team. This role is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on fleet equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and takes pride in keeping equipment in top working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services on refuse trucks, trailers, and related equipment
Conduct oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and basic mechanical adjustments
Identify potential mechanical issues and communicate findings to lead mechanics or supervisors
Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records
Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and DOT regulations
Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe
Support mechanics with additional duties as needed to minimize equipment downtime
Qualifications
Previous experience with preventative maintenance on diesel or heavy equipment preferred
Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment
