Inventory Control Slotting Manager

Job Description

Job Purpose: Inventory Control Slotting Manager is responsible for managing systemic inventory operations on a multi-site level. In coordination with site Supervisors, ensures that adequate inventory of products and services are in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. The person in this position conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems. Develops and implements systemic changes within the WMS to increase productivity and efficiency. The manager will oversee and assign priorities for all aspects of system improvements and maintenance within the scope of inventory control. This includes labor, documentation/time requirements and operational demands. Works with slotting software and consultants to create, implement, and execute slotting efforts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Position requires a consummate professional who can represent Inventory Control both internally and externally. Frequently coordinates with warehouse operations, customer service, and consolidation teams.

Daily

  • Reviews slotting recommendations for possible issues/concerns and addresses as appropriate
  • Implements and assigns slotting tasks, system parameter updates, and routine maintenance in WMS
  • Ensuring payroll time is correct
  • Consistently communicating with internal and external clients.
  • Reviews customer requests as a Subject Matter Expert and provides feedback.

Weekly

  • Coordinates overall efforts related to slotting and systemic maintenance of WMS inventory parameters.
  • Attending all strategic leadership meetings on a weekly basis.

Monthly

  • Keeping track of all facility updates.
  • KPI Tracking
  • Maintaining and documenting facility efficiency updates within WMS.

Quarterly

  • Ensuring that performance reviews, team goals and forecasting is documented and completed in a timely manner.
  • Forecasts major slotting initiatives

Job Complexity:

  • Management skills and the ability to manage a staff of employees.
  • Hire, Train, Coach, Mentor and hold all warehouse staff accountable.
  • Ability to lead or support IT modification projects.
  • Ability to maintain an organized, neat and orderly operation as it pertains to Inventory Control.
  • Ensures that all project and client KPIs are met or exceeds expectation.
  • Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills.
  • Maintains AIB/SQF policy and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years or more progressively increasing responsibility within inventory and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to report/track trending and historical data.
  • Must have strong business writing and case analysis skills.
  • Intermediate algebra and financial math are a must.
  • Experience in Inventory Control, Transportation Warehouse.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Excel including pivot tables, data analysis, and macro's.
  • Highly skilled in WMS systems, setup, and problem solving.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
