
Infection Prevention Manager
Job Description
Overview
Responsible for the integration of processes to include, coordination/management of infection prevention surveillance, data abstraction and analysis of data, leadership and regulatory reporting and staff education; and the organizing, planning, directing, and evaluation of the services provided. Has a strong focus on Performance Improvement activities to include root cause analysis, risk assessments and outbreak investigation. Manages infection prevention program in the acute care setting or in the ambulatory care setting. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support for the infection prevention program. Serves as the infection prevention subject matter expert for the local setting.
What you will do
- Manages and coordinates the infection prevention surveillance, data abstraction and analysis, regulatory reporting, and staff education.
- Organizes, plans, directs, and evaluates services provided for infection prevention. Completes root cause analysis, risk assessments, and outbreak investigations. Develops, implements and evaluates the Infection Prevention Plan. Reports communicable diseases to the health department, as required.
- Participates/oversees the planning and monitoring of the budget for defined areas to include appropriate resource allocation determination. Completes variance review, analysis and action plans based on approved departmental budget.
- Responds to suggestions and concerns from patients, visitors, staff and leadership.
- Demonstrates initiative in professional development and continuing education. Assists in the professional development of other Infection Preventionists through guidance and teaching. Attends professional meetings and educational offerings. Collaborates with all team members and the System Director of Infection Prevention to identify educational needs and plan educational programs.
- Ensures evidence-based guidelines are applied and adheres to facility, department and regulatory standards (CMS, DNV-GL, OSHA, etc.).
- Assists in the professional development of the Infection Preventionists through guidance and teaching. Collaborates with team and system Director to identify educational needs and plan educational programs.
- Supervises and performs surveillance for hospital-acquired infections based on National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) guidelines.
Qualifications
Education
- Masters Degree, Nursing (Required) or
- Masters Degree, Medical Laboratory Technology (Required) or
- Masters Degree, Public Health (Required)
- Program Graduate, Registered Nurse (Required)
Experience
- 10 years Recent nursing, public health or laboratory experience (Required)
- 5-6 years Infection Prevention experience (Required)
- 1 year Supervisory Experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
- Certified Board Of Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc., Upon Hire(Required)
