Commercial Contracts Associate

Compensation: $175,000 - $215,000 / year
Description
As Commercial Contracts Associate, at Impulse, you will be the first line of legal support for our commercial contracting activity – owning the first cut on agreements, moving deals forward efficiently, and ensuring Impulse's commercial relationships are structured to support a fast-growing business. This is a mid-level role for an attorney with solid commercial contracts experience who is eager to build and own a function, not just execute tasks. You will report to the VP, Government and Regulatory Affairs and work closely with Business Development, Finance, and legal team members to support Impulse’s growing portfolio of commercial launch and in-space transportation agreements.

Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, with a primary focus on customer-facing contracts including launch services agreements, mission services agreements, and related commercial arrangements
- Own the first-cut review and markup process for inbound and outbound commercial agreements, flagging key risks and issues for senior attorney review
- Maintain and improve contract templates, standard positions, and playbooks to support faster, more consistent deal execution
- Partner with Business Development and Finance to support deal structuring, customer negotiations, and contract execution
- Track contract milestones, obligations, and renewals in coordination with Legal Operations
- Support senior legal team members on more complex or high-stakes commercial transactions
- Assist with development of scalable legal processes as the company’s commercial business grows
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university
- 5+ years of commercial contracts experience, in a law firm and/or in-house
- Familiarity with launch services, satellite, or space industry contracting
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft and negotiate commercial agreements with limited supervision
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and articulate legal and business risk clearly
- Collaborative working style and comfort engaging directly with business stakeholders
Preferred Skills and Experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 5+ years of demonstrated in-house experience at a technology, aerospace, or engineering-driven company
- Experience building or improving contract operations processes (templates, tracking, intake workflows)

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
