Job Purpose
- The Principal Electrical Designer is responsible for leading electrical design and drafting activities for offshore oil & gas projects during the detailed engineering phase.
- The role ensures delivery of high-quality, compliant, and constructible design outputs aligned with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise electrical design and drafting activities for offshore facilities.
- Act as focal point for multidisciplinary coordination.
- Develop and review drawings such as SLDs, layouts, cable routing, lighting, and earthing systems.
- Preparation of Substation/ Switchgear room layouts for offshore projects.
- Lead 3D modeling using SP3D / E3D and participate in model reviews.
- Support engineering deliverables, MTOs, and layout development.
- Ensure timely delivery in line with project schedules.
- Review vendor drawings and support technical clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC, HSE, and hazardous area requirements.
- Mentor junior designers and support team development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 18+ years of experience in offshore electrical design.
- Experience in offshore EPC and detailed engineering projects.
- Should have experience of working in Offshore brownfield projects.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of offshore electrical systems (MV/LV, substations, lighting, earthing).
- Familiar with IEC, ADNOC standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SP3D.
HSE & Safety
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification and electrical safety in design.
