Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Press Setup Technician responsible for setting up, changing over, and maintaining dies and fixtures to support safe and efficient production operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot production issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and understand blueprints and manufacturing documentation
- Change over dies and fixtures in production equipment
- Perform basic math and accurately operate measuring devices
- Set up dies and production presses to proper shut heights
- Ensure correct material alignment and progression
- Install part chutes, slides, and conveyors
- Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support to production
- Obtain and reference manufacturing process books as required
- Sign off on first-piece inspections to release jobs to production
- Verify quality standards are met before and during production
- Run production when required and fill in for material handling as needed
- Maintain forklift certification
- Assist with cleanup and general shop organization
- Work in extreme temperature conditions when required
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 6+ years of die setting experience
- 10+ years of forklift operation experience
- Experience lifting up to 15,000 lbs preferred
- Strong knowledge of press functions and setup
- Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical knowledge (circuits and controls)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong hand and finger dexterity
