Curriculum Developer & Class Lead – Temporary Student Grant Position
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Duration: Temporary, 16 weeks
Anticipated Start: May 18, 2026
Pay Rate: $17.44 - 21.56
Number of Positions: 1
Grant Eligibility Requirements:
As this is a grant-funded position, the following criteria are stipulated by the funder:
- Between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- International students are not eligible
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, front-line support to individuals with disabilities participating in Sherwood Park Day Services and Employment programs
- Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum based activities that support life skills, pre employment skills, social development, and community inclusion
- Plan, lead, and facilitate structured classes and group activities for participants, both on site and in the community
- Support individuals to engage in meaningful daily programming that aligns with individual goals, interests, and abilities
- Promote independence, dignity, and inclusion using a person centred approach
- Assist individuals in building skills related to employment readiness, communication, and daily living
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment during all classes and activities
- Follow individual support plans, organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Communicate effectively with the Manager, Sherwood Park Day Services & Employment, and other team members regarding program delivery and participant progress
- Complete basic documentation and reporting related to programming and participant participation
- Maintain a professional, positive, and collaborative presence
Qualifications and Skills
- Genuine interest in supporting individuals with disabilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, front line environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, patient, and respectful approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some education or experience in Disability Studies, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is an asset
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new concepts; be flexible and to work as an effective team player
- Exhibit attributes of a positive attitude, including a willingness to receive and provide feedback.
- Strong computer, organization, and communication skills.
