Payroll Administrator
The Payroll Administrator executes accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for multi-state hourly and salaried employees in a complex, high-volume environment for bi-weekly and weekly payroll cycles. You’ll own end-to-end pay cycle activities in Dayforce (time & attendance, earnings/deductions, garnishments, taxes, and off-cycle runs.)
What You’ll Do• Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls and certified payrolls• Serves as primary day-to-day contact for employee inquiries• Import/validate time from Dayforce Time or other timekeeping integrations; research exceptions, missed punches, and approvals; resolve with managers before payroll close.• Calculate and validate earnings (regular, overtime, shift, differentials), bonuses, retro, and special pay per federal/state wage and hour rules and company policy.• Maintain employee payroll records (direct deposit, W-4/state tax, home/work locations, earnings, deductions• Set up and maintain state/local tax jurisdictions; coordinate new SUI and local tax accounts as needed.• Monitor compliance with FLSA, state/local wage and hour laws (OT, meal/rest premiums where applicable), and union or site-specific rules (where applicable).• Support quarter-end/year-end close activities (W-2/W-2c review, fringe benefits, imputed income, year-to-date balancing).• Perform pre- and post-payroll controls (gross-to-net reasonableness, variance checks, negative pay, missing taxes, high-value transactions) and resolve discrepancies before committing payroll.• Collaborate with HRIS and Payroll leadership on Dayforce configuration tests (earnings codes, deduction/tax rules, workflows) and continuous improvement.• Maintain SOPs, checklists, and calendars for each pay cycle; propose and implement automation/controls to reduce defects and cycle time.• Track and report cycle KPIs and drive root-cause actions to improve accuracy and employee experience.
What You’ll Bring• Certified payroll knowledge including knowledge of Davis-Bacon Certified Payroll reporting and filing the reports using LCP tracker and WH-347 forms is required• 4+ years of end-to-end, multi-state, union/non-union payroll processing• 2+ years’ experience establishing and maintaining tax jurisdictions• 2+ years of payroll processing experience using Dayforce• Knowledge of payroll tax, wage and hour (FLSA), overtime rules, and final pay requirements; ability to research state/local nuances.• Strong Excel skills (vlookups/index-match, pivot tables, text/date functions) to audit and reconcile large datasets.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements• Hybrid office environment with peak-period intensity around payroll close, quarter-end, and year-end.• Ability to sit/stand at a computer, review large spreadsheets, and manage time-sensitive tasks.• Limited travel (<10%) to sites or team meetings as needed. Schedule & PayStandard business hours with flexibility during payroll close and year-end.Pay range commensurate with experience and market.
