Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Asphalt Plant Superintendent to support one of our construction industry clients in Central and Eastern Oregon. This position is responsible for overseeing daily asphalt plant operations, production schedules, plant maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of asphalt plant operations, and the ability to manage personnel, equipment, and plant performance efficiently and safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot plant operational issues, electrical systems, PLC controls, burners, and material flow systems
• Supervise and coordinate asphalt plant operations and personnel
• Manage daily production schedules to meet project and customer demands
• Monitor asphalt mix production for compliance with job specifications and quality standards
• Coordinate plant maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DEQ, environmental, and company safety regulations
• Coordinate aggregate, oil, and liquid AC inventory levels and deliveries with plant operators
• Communicate and work effectively with paving crews, truck dispatch, quality control staff, and management teams
• Maintain accurate production reports, inventory records, maintenance documentation, and parts inventory
• Train, mentor, and evaluate plant personnel
• Ensure proper housekeeping and organization of the plant site
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of asphalt plant operations experience preferred
• Mechanical and troubleshooting experience with asphalt plant equipment required
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
• Experience with plant automation systems and PLC controls preferred
• Understanding of OSHA, MSHA, and environmental compliance requirements
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends during paving season
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
