Job Description

Veterinary Practitioner - Small Animal

Anicare Vets, Clontarf Veterinary Hospital

Full-time, Permanent

Salary up to €65,000 per annum DOE

Start date: October 2026 (flexible)

Step Into a Role Where You Can Truly Make Your Mark

If you're an experienced small animal vet looking for a role where your clinical judgement is trusted, your surgical skills are valued, and your voice genuinely matters — this could be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

At Anicare Clontarf, you'll join a well-established, progressive practice that offers both stability and the opportunity to shape your role around your clinical interests. While we welcome a variety of interests, this position is best suited to a confident first-opinion GP vet who enjoys a balanced caseload of consulting and surgery.

A Balanced, Varied GP Role

This is a true first-opinion role with an enjoyable mix of consultations and surgical work across the week. You’ll typically spend 1–2 days in surgery and 2–3 days consulting, managing a varied and interesting caseload.

The role offers a sustainable and structured schedule, designed to support both clinical quality and work-life balance:

*36.5 hours per week

*1 in 6 weekends (approx. 1.5 per cycle)

*No out-of-hours or on-call responsibilities

*Shared bank holiday rota (1–2 per year)

This is an ideal opportunity for a vet who is confident working with a team of experienced professionals, happy managing their own caseload, and comfortable contributing to the daily rhythm of a busy GP practice.

A Supportive, Experienced Team

You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team of four vets, four nurses, and three support staff, all working together in a positive, well-run environment.

The practice itself is modern and well-equipped, with digital radiography, orthopaedic equipment, and a loyal, long-standing client base that allows for high-quality, continuity-driven care.

This role is suited to an experienced vet who can work with confidence and autonomy — it’s not designed for new graduates or those requiring close day-to-day mentoring.

Part of a Trusted Dublin Network

Anicare is one of Dublin’s longest-established veterinary groups, with clinics across Clontarf, Santry, Blanchardstown and Glasnevin. You’ll benefit from access to a wider network of experienced colleagues, including certificate holders, enabling collaboration, case discussion and internal referrals — all while maintaining the close-knit feel of your home clinic.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon who:

*Has at least a few years’ experience in small animal general practice

*Is confident in both consultations and routine surgery (including dentals)

*Can work independently and manage their own caseload effectively

*Brings a proactive, reliable and team-oriented approach

Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland (please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
