Bus Monitor Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during all bus journeys (start and end of day), ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort at all times

  • Accurately register and account for students during pick-up and drop-off, maintaining clear and up-to-date records of attendance and timings

  • Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour on the bus, managing pupil conduct positively and in line with school expectations

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and staff through clear, respectful, and professional communication

  • Report behavioural concerns, safeguarding issues, and any transport-related matters promptly to the Transport Officer

  • Maintain accurate records within the School Management System, including transport registrations and student data

  • Support the administration of transport services, including registering new students and assisting with planning for emergency transport where required

  • Contribute to high levels of staff and parent satisfaction by ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-managed transport experience

  • Take all reasonable precautions to safeguard students, staff, equipment, and facilities, including applying first aid where necessary

Cleaning Responsibilities

  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness across the school site by following the cleaning rota and completing all assigned duties to a high standard following agreed work schedules using appropriate cleaning equipment and materials.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to site cleanliness by identifying and addressing cleaning needs beyond assigned tasks, ensuring all areas remain consistently safe, hygienic, and presentable

  • Regularly check and replenish cleaning supplies, report maintenance or hygiene concerns promptly, and take initiative to resolve minor issues where appropriate

  • Ensure high-traffic and priority areas (e.g. entrances, corridors, toilets, bus areas) are monitored and maintained throughout the day and follow work card for specific timed actities

  • Deliver a high-quality service aligned with school expectations, demonstrating reliability, care, attention to detail, and pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment
