Systems Engineer II (Infrastructure & Platform)
Location: Onsite � Troy, MI

Reports To: Infrastructure & Security Manager
Position Summary
Hands-on Systems Engineer responsible for supporting and maintaining core infrastructure including Hyper-V, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Windows Server, and security platforms.
This role operates in a small, high-responsibility IT team and requires the ability to own systems end-to-end, independently troubleshoot production issues, and execute infrastructure improvements with minimal direction.
This is not a task-based role � the expectation is full ownership of systems, issues, and outcomes.
Onsite presence is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and support Hyper-V environments (hosts, VMs, clustering, performance)
- Own and support Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) (health, resiliency, capacity planning)
- Administer Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, patching, file services)
- Support and maintain Palo Alto firewalls (NAT, policies, VPNs, segmentation)
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues across systems and network layers
- Support and stabilize VisualCron automation and job processing
- Support infrastructure behind eGAMS, IIS, and SQL-based applications
- Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 support, including rapid escalation and ownership of unresolved issues
- Execute infrastructure changes, upgrades, and deployments with minimal oversight
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Maintain accurate and usable documentation for systems and processes
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Hyper-V in production environments
- Experience with high availability, clustering, and system resiliency
- Experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting across compute, storage, and networking layers
- Experience working directly in production environments with uptime expectations
- PowerShell or scripting experience for automation and troubleshooting
Preferred Skills
- Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) (implementation or support)
- SQL Server experience (performance troubleshooting, jobs, maintenance)
- IIS / web application support
- Experience with infrastructure migrations or platform transitions
Experience
- 4�7 years in systems/infrastructure roles
- Experience supporting production environments
- Ability to balance support and project work
Work Requirements
- 100% onsite role (5 days/week)
- Occasional after-hours support as needed
