Resident Assistant-Temporary-Full time

Job Summary:

This paid entry level position is the pathway to being accepted into the Certified Nursing Assistant training program provided by the Oneida Health Extended Care Facility. The purpose of the Resident Assistant role is to gain experience prior to entering the CNA training program, allowing the employee to better understand the requirements and expectations of a Certified Nursing Assistant, as well as receive a strong introduction to the role and pace of the position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge of age specifics developmental factors specific to the adult geriatric residents (i.e., physical, cognitive, and socialization in planning delivery of care.
• Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in units/shifts assignments to meet the needs of the resident and facility.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with Commitment to Patients/Residents and Commitment to Co-Workers
• Employee is educated and adheres to :

2. HIPAA
3. Resident Abuse Reporting Law

•  Resident Unit Responsibilities:

1. Makes unoccupied beds.
2. Transports residents to and from dining rooms and other Activities in their wheelchairs.
3. Cares and cleans the resident rooms, washes Mechanical Lift equipment during the shift.
4. Assists in the Dining rooms to clear the tables after Intake and consumption of total consumptions of meals and liquids have been completed by the nursing staff.
5. Stocks gloves and plastic bags in resident rooms, bathrooms and the shower rooms.
6. Walks behind the nursing staff pushing resident's wheelchair while the Certified Nursing Assistants and nurses are walking the residents.
7. Assists on units by reading to residents, playing cards and spending time with residents.
8. Remove soiled linen from rooms and shower areas to Laundry chutes.
9. Wash wheelchairs/ mechanical lift equipment when necessary

• Resident Care Responsibilities- Infection Control

1. Demonstrates Knowledge and implements of Universal Precautions
2. Hand Hygiene between resident contacts as appropriate
3. Gloves when handling soiled linen, proper glove removal and hand hygiene.
4. Safe disposal of wastes
5. Demonstrates ability to practice precautions when caring for and cleaning resident rooms and equipment.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High School Graduate or GED
