Job Description

We are seeking an International Irrigation Engineer (Pipe Networks) for a Detailed Engineering Design of an Irrigation scheme in Georgia

Position Summary

The International Irrigation Engineer – Pipe Network Systems will lead the design of pressurized irrigation pipeline networks replacing existing tertiary and secondary canals where appropriate. The expert will prepare hydraulic designs for pressure pipeline systems, optimize water distribution, and support modernization of the irrigation network to improve efficiency, reduce water losses, and facilitate modern irrigation methods such as drip and sprinkler irrigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing pipeline layouts and irrigation infrastructure.
  • Conduct engineering assessments of existing irrigation systems.
  • Develop hydraulic designs for:
    • Pressurized irrigation networks
    • Secondary pipeline systems
    • Tertiary pipeline systems
    • Low-pressure pipeline systems
  • Design pipeline alignments using available hydraulic head.
  • Design hydrants and farm delivery systems.
  • Prepare hydraulic modeling for pipeline systems using EPANET (or equivalent free software).
  • Size pipelines and select appropriate materials.
  • Design associated infrastructure including:
    • Air valves
    • Washouts
    • Filters
    • Flushing systems
    • Pressure control devices
    • Flow measurement structures
  • Design connections between canal and pressurized systems.
  • Optimize network efficiency and operating pressures.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings and pipeline profiles.
  • Prepare technical specifications and Bills of Quantities.
  • Support preparation of Operation & Maintenance Plans.
  • Coordinate with SCADA, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical specialists.
  • Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Provide technical input into FIDIC-based tender documentation
  • Qualification – At least Master’s degree or equivalent in civil engineering (specialization in water resources/hydrology/hydraulics/irrigation/drainage);
  • General professional experience – At least 10 years of general professional experience in design of pipes, irrigation/drainage, construction, maintenance, land use planning, and agriculture;
  • Specific professional experience - At least 8 years of experience in the design of similar-sized and type projects, including 3 years of international experience (outside the country of origin).
  • Fluency in the English language is required.
