
Technology Support Technician
Job Description
What You'll be Doing:
Level II
- Assists in evaluating network performance and capacity requirements and provides recommendations to senior technical staff for the purpose of supporting the continued growth and reliability of the district's local area and wide area networks.
- Performs application software and operating system updates on servers under the direction of senior technical staff for the purpose of maintaining system security, functionality, and performance.
- Troubleshoots advanced technical issues by conducting research, documenting findings, and implementing approved solutions for the purpose of resolving complex problems and minimizing disruptions to district operations.
- Performs day-to-day operations in Active Directory, including creating and disabling user accounts, managing group memberships, resetting passwords, and assigning file permissions, for the purpose of supporting user access, authentication, and data security.
- Troubleshoots intermediate routing, switching, wireless, DNS, and DHCP connectivity issues for the purpose of maintaining reliable network services and escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of district technology refresh projects for the purpose of supporting the lifecycle management of hardware and software resources.
- Administers and maintains technology management systems and tools used to monitor, secure, inventory, deploy, and support district technology resources for the purpose of ensuring operational readiness and reliability.
- Serves as a technical resource on district-supported applications, systems, and services for the purpose of providing guidance and support to staff and assisting with the resolution of escalated technical issues.
- Serves as a resource to Level I support technicians for the purpose of providing guidance, sharing knowledge, and assisting with the resolution of technical issues beyond the scope of Level I support.
Level III
- Evaluates the growth requirements of the district's local area network, wide area network, wireless infrastructure, server environment, and enterprise systems and advises the Technology Director on future technology needs for the purpose of ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and support for emerging technologies.
- Plans, coordinates, and performs application software and operating system upgrades on servers and enterprise systems for the purpose of maintaining security, performance, compliance, and operational continuity while minimizing service disruptions.
- Leads the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues by conducting advanced research, developing implementation plans, documenting findings, making recommendations, and deploying solutions for the purpose of maintaining system availability and minimizing operational disruptions.
- Administers and maintains Active Directory and associated identity management systems, including user and group management, file permissions, group policies, authentication services, and directory integrations for the purpose of ensuring secure and efficient access to district technology resources.
- Administers, maintains, and troubleshoots enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless systems, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPN connectivity, and network security systems for the purpose of ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing network operations.
- Develops, manages, and advises the Technology Director on district technology refresh cycles, lifecycle management strategies, and infrastructure replacement planning for the purpose of maintaining reliable technology resources and supporting long-term budget and operational planning.
- Administers and manages systems utilized to monitor, secure, deploy, inventory, back up, and support district technology resources for the purpose of ensuring the operational readiness, reliability, security, and recoverability of district systems and data.
- Serves as the department's subject matter expert for assigned applications, infrastructure systems, cloud services, and enterprise technologies for the purpose of providing technical leadership, establishing standards, and ensuring the effective operation of critical district systems.
- Serves as a mentor and technical resource to Level I and Level II support technicians for the purpose of developing staff knowledge, providing escalation support, promoting consistent support practices, and building technical capacity within the department.

- Level II $30.51 - $35.88 per hour (depending on experience)
- Level III $34.73 - 40.71 per hour (depending on experience)

What You'll Need:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, AA or vocational certificate preferred. CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+ certification required.
- Experience: 3 years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
- Minimum qualifications: Utilizing pertinent software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records, adhering to safety practices. Knowledge in current generation operating systems and network protocols. Ability to work with data of varied types and/or purposes, utilizing a wide variety of types of job-related equipment, displaying mechanical aptitude, adapting to changing work priorities, establishing effective working relationships communicating with diverse groups and attentive to detail.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 40% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
