Job Description

At The Obama Foundation, our mission is to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world.  We seek to build an active democratic culture where people are equipped and motivated to make change in the communities where they live, work, and play. Right here on the South Side of Chicago, we’re building a home for this vision, a global center for change with a range of opportunities - coordinated programming, community outreach events, educational moments, and more - that invite visitors from down the block or across the globe to turn hope into action.

Achieving our ambitious goals starts with an exceptional team built on our Hope to Action Values - Courage, Empathy, Integrity, Accountability, Community, Inclusivity, Pragmatism, Resilience, Imagination, and Hope. A Framework that anyone, anywhere, can use to build trust, activate participation, and expand opportunity in their community.

  • Partner with the event host, who onsite leads program content, attendee management, and vendor deliverables

  • Monitor event spaces and operations in real time, including setup, transitions, and overall flow

  • Identify and escalate operational issues as needed to maintain a seamless environment

  • Support vendor activity onsite to ensure alignment with approved plans and OPC standards

  • Deliver a high standard of hospitality that reflects OPC values, ensuring a welcoming and well-supported experience for all guests

Team & Operational Support

  • Event details are accurate, complete, and well-documented

  • Strong coordination across internal teams and stakeholders

  • Timely identification and escalation of risks and issues

  • Effective and respectful cross-team collaboration with OPC colleagues and partners

  • Consistently demonstrate OPC values

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in event operations, hospitality, or coordination roles

  • Ability to work flexible schedules as required by operational needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, peak visitor periods, and special events

  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to follow processes and escalate issues appropriately

  • The role requires frequent mobility across the Center’s campus, both indoors and outdoors
