This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. What You’ll Work On
- Follow safe work practices while working around operating equipment and in industrial environments.
- Collect vibration data on rotating and mechanical equipment using route-based monitoring tools, following established procedures and routes.
- Assist with basic condition monitoring technologies, including vibration, ultrasound, infrared thermography, and oil sampling, as assigned.
- Verify equipment identification, operating conditions, and data quality during data collection activities.
- Perform basic visual and sensory inspections (noise, heat, leakage, looseness) during equipment rounds and PdM routes.
- Support senior maintenance and reliability team with equipment setup, sensor placement, and hardware installation for vibration monitoring systems.
- Assist with maintaining PdM databases, asset lists, and measurement point accuracy.
- Help identify obvious abnormal conditions and promptly communicate findings maintenance, or reliability personnel.
- Enter collected condition monitoring data into PdM or reliability software systems accurately and on time.
- Assist in preparing inspection notes, work requests, and basic reports under supervision.
- Maintain proper documentation for routes, inspections, and safety requirements.
- Participate in on-the-job training related to vibration analysis fundamentals, rotating equipment, and condition monitoring technologies.
- Develop familiarity with common mechanical fault types such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, and bearing wear.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability activities as exposure and experience increase.
- Actively pursue required training and certifications as part of the PdM career progression path.
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma / GED
- 1-5 years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing maintenance and repairs
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis and working cross-functionally
- A working knowledge of computers – able to create spreadsheets and analyze data to examine equipment efficiencies and project economics
- Leadership capabilities
- Ability to excel in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ predictive maintenance experience
- Technical diploma relevant to the role (predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, etc.)

The base pay for this position is
$24.65 – $49.25/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
