Job Description

Purpose The Production Operator is responsible for safely operating recycling equipment to meet production goals, maintain productivity, and ensure customer satisfaction through consistent product quality and effective teamwork. This role supports the overall success of the facility by following established procedures, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.   Areas of Responsibility / Tasks    Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below:    General Policy  Operate all recycling equipment safely and efficiently to produce quality materials that meet customer requirements.  Follow all Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) and Work Package Instructions.  Communicate and review work‑in‑process status at the beginning and end of each shift.  Perform equipment startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as required.  Report decisions, problems, and questions to management in a timely manner.  Safely operate a forklift and follow all material‑handling procedures.  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 7S expectations.  Assist with special projects and cross‑functional tasks assigned.  Follow all Quality, Safety, and Environmental procedures.  Uphold the Ravago Code of Conduct at all times.    Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications Education: Highs School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: 2 years of forklift experience required.  Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.  Must be willing to learn and follow established procedures.         Skills & Requirements  Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.  Ability to read, speak, and write English efficiently (preferred).  Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.  Must be a team player with a positive, cooperative attitude.  Ability to work safely around machinery and follow instructions precisely.    Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA) To perform this role successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following:  Comfortable working in a shared manufacturing space with constant noise and moving equipment.  Able to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment, including exposure to heat, humidity, and airborne materials associated with plastics recycling.  Must be willing to work a 12 hour rotating schedule that includes every other weekend.   Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week based on business needs Must report all injuries—regardless of severity—to Supervisor/HR immediately.  Demonstrates reliability, teamwork, and commitment to safety and quality.  Shows initiative and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.    Work Environment / Conditions The work environment described below reflects the conditions typically experienced in a manufacturing setting, particularly in recycling and plastics processing: Work is performed in shared industrial spaces with constant noise, moving equipment, and forklift traffic. Facility areas are non‑climate‑controlled, which may involve high heat, humidity, and exposure to outdoor temperatures when moving between buildings. Work areas may contain dust, plastic particulates, odors, moisture, and airborne materials associated with recycling operations. Must be able to work safely around rotating equipment, conveyors, grinders, wash lines, and blending systems. Schedules may vary weekly based on business needs and may exceed 40 hours per week with or without notice. All injuries, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to Supervisor/HR.   Physical Requirements / Demands The physical demands listed below represent what is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, squat, bend, climb, carry, and reach throughout the shift. Must follow all RMA safety policies and procedures at all times. Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs, handle materials, and maneuver equipment safely. Must be able to climb straight‑incline ladders, access elevated platforms, and work around industrial machinery. Must have sufficient hand and finger dexterity for packaging, equipment operation, and documentation. Must have adequate vision, including color vision, to identify materials, labels, and safety indicators. Must be able to work extended periods in a hot, noisy, and physically demanding environment.
