Role Overview
As a Supervisor – Cytogenetics Lab, you will:
- Provide operational and technical leadership for the cytogenetics laboratory
- Oversee staff performance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate workflow for karyotyping, FISH, and microarray testing
- Troubleshoot technical issues and manage inventory
- Write and maintain lab procedures and perform assay validations
- Review complex cases for accuracy and prepare reports using ISCN nomenclature
- Consult with genetic counselors, pathologists, and clinicians to ensure appropriate testing
- Hire, train, and mentor technologists; schedule staff and conduct evaluations
- Maintain inspection readiness and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state regulations
- Drive continuous process improvement and innovation
- Perform bench work as needed and assist with operational tasks
Qualifications
🎓 Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field
📊 Experience
- Cytogenetics experience required
🧪 Licensure/Certification
- ASCP Certification in Cytogenetics (Required)
- Florida Cytogenetics Lab Supervisor License (Required)
