Senior Indigenous & Social Impact Manager | People & Purpose | Sydney/Melbourne
Job Description
Job Requisition ID: 41350
- Lead Deloitte's Indigenous and social impact strategy - shaping reconciliation, community partnerships and social value at an enterprise level
- Purposeful work with real community impact
- Belong to a workplace that values diversity, equity and inclusion
This role reports to the Head of Purpose and sits within Deloitte Australia’s People & Purpose team, playing a key role in delivering the firm’s Purpose agenda.
As a Senior Manager, you will focus on translating strategy into action – driving outcomes that increase employee engagement and participation, and embedding Purpose into the everyday experience of our people. You will work closely with Business Units to shift outcomes in priority areas including the Reconciliation Action Plan, pro bono and volunteering, ensuring these programs deliver meaningful, measurable impact.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring energy, pace and strong influence. You will lead a team and work across the firm to build momentum, align stakeholders and drive delivery.
What will your typical day look like?
Your focus is on driving Deloitte's Indigenous engagement, reconciliation and social impact agenda forward. That means leading the evolution of our Reconciliation Action Plan, strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and partners, and guiding culturally appropriate practices across procurement, employment and community engagement. You'll use sound insight and judgement to shape priorities, navigate complexity and ensure initiatives are both meaningful and practical in delivery.
The impact of this work reaches across the entire firm. You'll oversee social impact programs including community partnerships, volunteering and pro bono initiatives, and identify opportunities to embed measurable social value into core business activities and client work. You'll also interface with the Deloitte Foundation, supporting the Foundation Chair with oversight of activations, budget and agenda. This will require strong commercial acumen, along with the ability to balance purpose-led outcomes with enterprise priorities.
This is a role with real breadth and influence. You'll partner with senior leaders across the business to embed purpose into strategy and operations, represent Deloitte in external forums, and build governance and reporting frameworks that track outcomes and keep the firm accountable. You'll need to bring influence and collaboration to work across a complex, matrixed environment, alongside the confidence to lead through ambiguity as priorities evolve and new opportunities emerge. No two weeks look the same - but the thread that connects everything is driving genuine, lasting impact for First Nations peoples and communities. You'll also bring a level of digital and AI fluency to how you approach reporting, insights, communication and continuous improvement across the function.
About the team
The Purpose team sits at the heart of Deloitte's commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond commercial outcomes. The team leads the firm's approach to reconciliation, social impact, community investment and responsible business - working across every part of the organisation to embed purpose into how Deloitte operates and serves its clients. This is an established function with strong foundations and real momentum, and the opportunity ahead is to keep building on what's been created.
Enough about us, let's talk about you
You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:
- Significant experience in Indigenous engagement, social impact, ESG or responsible business
- A proven track record of engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and communities in a culturally informed and respectful way
- Demonstrated leadership and delivery in complex, matrixed organisations
- Experience designing and delivering enterprise-wide strategies with clear outcomes and measurable impact
- Strong stakeholder influence and relationship-building skills at senior leadership level with a high degree of influence and collaboration
- Deep understanding of Indigenous affairs, policy and cultural considerations in Australia, with the insight and judgement to apply this in a complex organisational environment
- Commercial acumen with the ability to align purpose-led initiatives to business value
- The ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities and respond thoughtfully to emerging issues and opportunities
- Digital and AI fluency, with the confidence to use digital tools, data and emerging technologies to support reporting, insight generation and more effective ways of working
- A relevant tertiary qualification in social policy, Indigenous studies, sustainability or business (desirable)
