Job Requirements

The Medical Assistant II provides advanced clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in an ambulatory or clinical setting. This role requires demonstrated competency in both patient care and clinical procedures, independent task management, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Perform and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
  • Administer medications and injections as authorized and per scope of practice
  • Conduct clinical procedures such as specimen collection, and basic point-of-care testing
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
  • Ensure infection control standards and patient safety protocols are followed
  • Accurately document care in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow‑up care
  • Manage patient flow and room utilization
  • Verify patient information, insurance, and consent forms
  • Communicate test results and instructions to patients per provider direction
  • Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and exam rooms

Patient Support & Communication

  • Provide patient education on treatments, medications, and care plans
  • Respond to patient questions with professionalism and empathy
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and the care team


Work Experience

**Required Skills: ** 

- Proficient in taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, and patient information 

- Skilled in preparing patients for examinations and assisting healthcare providers during procedures 

- Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection accurately 

- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems 

- Strong organizational skills to manage patient flow and maintain medical supplies 

- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare team members 

- Adherence to infection control protocols and patient confidentiality standards 

- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
