JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a primary contact for customers, the Starbucks Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The
Starbucks Manager is held accountable for the department’s results in providing superior service, increasing sales,
improving gains, and containing costs. Supervises Starbucks Clerks, oversees new and ongoing training and compliance
with all Safeway policies and procedures and Starbucks Corporate policies and procedures. Writes schedule, orders, and
takes inventory. The Starbucks Manager brews coffee, tea, using coffee urns, drip or vacuum coffee makers, teapots,
drink mixers, and other kitchen equipment. Performs various duties to assist in filling customer’s orders. Cleans and
polishes utensils and equipment used in beverage preparation and serves coffee. Rotates product and removes out-ofdate product throughout the day. Responsible for maintaining accurate temperature logs and all other logs required in
Starbucks department. Operates cash register to accept payment and make change. The position is hourly non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Starbucks Manager is generally responsible for completing the following job duties:
• Provides customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company
policy.
• Train, schedule and supervise Starbucks workers to ensure optimum staffing patterns for the Starbucks
department.
• Speak with customers to resolve problems with sales, dissatisfaction with service or product, or other problems
related to the operation of the Starbucks department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (continued)
• Practice and promote safe work habits and maintain the same for customers.
• Perform inventory and order necessary products and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
• Prepare, brew, and serve beverages using coffeemakers, blenders, and espresso machines.
• Operate electronic cash register to total customers’ final bill. Receive payment for the customer purchase and
count back correct change.
• Maintain cleanliness of coffee service and café area of the store including counters, dishes, floors, and mats.
Empty trash.
• Perform temperature checks as required.
• Sets up and maintains displays in coffee area.
• Replace stock in preparation area from supply area.
• Monitor inter-office mail.
• Oversees and ensures correctness of all compliance audit issues.
• Make signs, tags, and displays as needed.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Responsible for performing basic cash-office functions.
• Responsible for compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity.
• Other necessary and required duties as directed or required.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory, and mental abilities normally associated with
performing the essential functions of this position**:
• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Must meet the minimum requirements to interview and pass interview for promotion.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and co-workers and supervisors.
• Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to make decisions and work without supervision.
• Ability to concentrate, focus and take initiative.
• Ability to organize, plan, and analyze reports.
• Ability to multitask while working under stress and time constraints.
• Ability to work varied shifts over a 24-hour operation.
• Knowledge of and ability to prepare different coffee and tea drinks.
• Ability to memorize drink formulas and PLU codes.
• Knowledge of shrink programs and related audits.
• Starbucks Manager must pass food safety test(s) and all other required tests.
• Reports to shifts working in proper uniform per company policy.
• Desired: Prior management experience. Previous experience as a Starbucks Clerk.
