Position Summary:
The Director of Domestic Ethanol Trading will lead all domestic ethanol trading activities and oversee the management of the company’s third-party terminal network. The successful candidate’s primary focus will be on developing and executing customer-driven trading strategies, expanding market share, and strengthening relationships with key partners across the ethanol value chain.
This role will manage a team of traders and account managers, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes customer engagement, market insight, and strategic growth. The Director will work closely with logistics, execution, and operations teams to optimize asset utilization, ensure reliable supply, and deliver innovative solutions that create value for customers and ADM.

The Director will work closely with logistics, execution, and operations teams to optimize asset utilization, ensure reliable supply, and deliver innovative solutions that create value for customers and ADM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute trading strategies in domestic ethanol markets with a strong focus on customer needs and market development.
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with ethanol customers, brokers, and counterparties, including oil companies, retailers, and distributors.
- Manage and optimize the third-party terminal network to enhance service, reliability, and market reach.
- Supervise and develop a team of traders and account managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, customer focus, and commercial excellence.
- Identify and capitalize on arbitrage and distribution opportunities that enhance customer value and trading margins.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including execution, operations, credit, and export teams—to ensure seamless trade execution and high-quality customer service.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to anticipate customer needs and inform trading strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commodity trading and merchandising, with at least 5 years in ethanol or biofuels.
- Demonstrated success in developing customer relationships and executing market growth strategies.
- Previous leadership experience managing trading teams and direct reports.
- Cross-country and rail arbitrage experience strongly preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.
- High level of initiative, creativity, and strategic thinking.
- Overnight travel required (less than 15%).
- The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded trading professional with deep knowledge of the domestic ethanol market and a passion for customer engagement.
- They will excel at building strong partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and aligning trading decisions with customer and company objectives.
