Job Description
As a Military Clothing Store (MCS) Shift Assistant, you are responsible for the daily shift operations of the Exchange’s Military Clothing branch. In this role, you will lead by example in delivering an exceptional customer experience while supporting the team and ensuring smooth, efficient store operations.
You will actively evaluate customers’ needs by listening carefully, offering solutions, and making informed recommendations to maximize customer satisfaction and strengthen Exchange brand loyalty. Your knowledge of military uniforms, ranks, and insignia will help ensure service members receive accurate guidance and leave confident in their purchases.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee shift operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and service standards
- Greet and engage every customer professionally, maintaining a welcoming and helpful atmosphere
- Assist customers with uniform needs, including sizing, insignia placement, and required items
- Ensure associates acknowledge and assist customers promptly, minimizing wait times
- Monitor and support accurate, efficient transactions and proper merchandise handling
- Stay up to date on military uniform regulations and Exchange policies
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues quickly and effectively
- Support merchandising, stocking, and overall store presentation
Qualifications
- Knowledge of military rank and insignia preferred
- Retail experience preferred
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team
- Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Willingness to cross-train and support other areas as needed
