PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support services for animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. LASP executes this mission by providing a broad spectrum of state-of-the-art technologies and services that are focused on the design, generation, characterization and application of genetically engineered and biological animal models of human disease, which are aimed at the development of targeted diagnostics and therapies. LASP contributes to advancing human health, developing new treatments, and improving existing treatments for cancer and other diseases while ensuring safe and humane treatment of animals. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES The Administrative Coordinator II will be responsible for a variety of routine tasks associated with the general administrative and clerical duties in support of the Laboratory Animal Sciences Program Procurement of materials and supplies Schedule and document meetings, conferences and seminars Preparation of scientific and administrative travel documents Prepare and disseminate administrative reports, documents and correspondence Correspondence (telephone, email, etc.) with internal staff and external customers Design and set up filing/tracking systems Prepare and submit purchase orders and general expense requests Coordinate animal shipments including domestic and international shipments Perform data entry for project tracking Other duties as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: Possession of a high school diploma. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related administrative experience Working knowledge of administrative office operations Experience and proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including; Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: Ability to multi-task Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent organization and observation skills Familiarity with scientific terminology Experience with Costpoint and Corecentric Invoicing System
