The Opportunity
EY Malta supports leading organisations, including financial services clients, in delivering large-scale data transformation programmes.
As a Data Architect, you will lead the design of modern, cloud-based data architectures aligned to governance, scalability, enterprise and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with both business and technology stakeholders to define platform architecture, data models and integration patterns , ensuring that data is reliable, governed and fit for purpose. These platforms will enable trusted, high-quality data across the organization, for reporting, analytics and operational decision-making.
This role offers the opportunity to shape strategic data platforms that underpin transformation programmes and long-term data capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design enterprise data architecture and data platforms, with a focus on data acquisition, integration, transformation, master data management, metadata and lineage
• Lead the definition of data models, integration patterns, transformation logic and platform architecture across analytical and operational use cases
• Define and guide data strategy
• Gather and prioritise business and data requirements Define data models, integration and transformation strategies
• Ensure alignment with governance, lineage and audit requirements
• Engage stakeholders to identify pain points and opportunities
• Work with stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions

Skills and Attributes
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in data architecture and data modelling
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and practical data architecture solutions
• Strong understanding of data architecture patterns (data lake, warehouse, lakehouse, mesh)
• Experience designing enterprise data platforms on cloud environments such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks Familiarity with ETL, data pipelines and SQL
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, integration and transformation techniques
• Experience aligning architecture to governance, lineage and auditability requirements
• Analytical/problem-solving ability
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Microsoft certifications on Data Engineering / Fabric
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
• DAMA CDMP
• Databricks certification
