Job Description

JOB GOAL:
The Elementary Academic Coach, having both content and instructional expertise will work with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding of researched-based, high-yield instructional practices.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Teaching Certificate Required
  2. Experience preferred in the areas of curriculum development, instructional improvement, assessment, teaching, and professional development.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Ability to analyze and interpret student achievement data.
  4. Effective organizational planning and project management skills.
  5. Five (5) years of successful teaching experience preferred.
  6. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and to bend and lift 25 lbs.
  7. Must pass a background clearance
  8. Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card


TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  218 Days; 11 Months
COMPENSATION:  Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
BENEFITS:  As per QCUSD District policy
REPORTS TO: Director of PD
HOURS:  40 hours per week and may require longer hours - Monday-Friday
CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Plan, facilitate, and deliver professional development based on assessed needs aligned with school improvement, district and team goals
  2. Plan, model, and co-teach effective lessons in the K-12 classroom
  3. Train general education staff in the implementation of the AZ College and Career Readiness Standards
  4. Mentor teachers based on assessment data to identify specific areas for improvement.
  5. Communicate effectively with large numbers of teachers and multiple administrators at multiple school sites
  6. Debrief with and coach teachers with the goal of improving teacher practice and student learning
  7. Build capacity among the teachers by improving instructional practices and subsequently student learning
  8. Facilitates the review and selection of textbooks and related instructional aides for the purpose of providing effective instructional materials in order to meet District, state, and federal educational standards
  9. Assists in the development of objectives, outcomes, content scope, and sequence for projects
  10. Train teachers and other instructional staff in new content or programs
  11. Facilitate curriculum development/customization sessions, document findings, and write reports.
  12. Create needs assessments for the purpose of ensuring that District curriculum and professional development needs are met
  13. Participate in meetings, workshops, and/or training for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions
  14. Cultivate collaboration across teams for data analysis, goal setting, and implementing effective instructional practices aligned to specific problems in learning
  15. Engage in professional development to improve coaching, data analysis, and content knowledge
  16. Participate in district and school-level committees, task forces, and initiatives.
  17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
