Job Summary: 

The Contractor shall provide Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) training and support for Naval Special Warfare Command’s (NSWC) UAS mission. The Initial Qualification Training instructor (IQT-I) and Training Manager serves as lead instructor for all East and West coast NSW commands. IQT-I's are operationally controlled by NSWC N37, tactically controlled by Navy Special Warfare Center (NSWCEN) Advanced Training Command (ATC). Their appointed place of duty will be the ATC spaces. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to developing, implementing, and executing Initial qualification training on NSW UAS platforms.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

 This position shall provide full-time on-site UAS training support to NSWC and all subordinate commands. This shall include the development, implementation, and instruction of all assigned Group 1 class UAS platforms in the NSW inventory as determined by NSWC. The IQT Training Manager will be the continuity piece between NSWC and the TALSA school house and ensure proper execution under NSWC and United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) UAS policy and strategy. The IQT Training Manager works directly under the auspices of the NSWC N37 UAS Officer while physically working out of ATC spaces. 

 

  • Develop, implement, and instruct EOTACS IQT and curriculum
  • Plan and facilitate SUAS training event requirements to include proper airspace and range access
  • Assist in the training of UAS operators at the TALSA school house and select Mobile Training Team (MTT) locations
  • Assist PMA-263 with the implementation, sustainment, and operation of the EOTACS/Family of Small UAS (FoSUAS) schoolhouse
  • Provide Sierra Hotel Aviation Readiness Program (SHARP) training for NSW personnel.
  • Highlight the utilization and efficacy of the SUAS capability captured in event After Action Reports.
  • Assist NSWC in ensuring SUAS qualification standards are met as defined in the USSOCOM Directive 350-9 and CNSWC 3710.1
  • Maintain SUAS systems and perform operational level repairs as needed or as directed by USSOCOM released Operational Advisories and Service Bulletins
  • Coordinate vendor provided IQT support as needed for NSW Echelon III commands
  • Other UAS training support as determined by TALSA and/or ATC with review and endorsement by the NSWC N37 UAS Officer
  • Provide Course Critiques following each COI
  • At all times be prepared to support MQT for all groups, as requested or required.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • UAS Instructor for at least one Group 1 UAS employed by Special Operations Forces (SOF) (e.g. RQ-20A/B, RQ-11B, RQ-12A, EOTACS, etc.)
  • UAS operator for at least one UAS employed by SOF
  • At least three years of experience working with SOF UAS
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to maintain a FAA Class II flight physical

 

Minimum Skills and Education: 

  • Experienced E-5 to E-9 with qualified experience as a SUAS operator
  • Eight years of active-duty military experience
  • NSW familiarity
  • Deployment familiarity

 

Preferred Skills and Education:

  • Experienced E-6 to E-9 with qualified experience as a SUAS operator
  • Eight years as an NSW Operator (SEAL or SWCC)
  • One NSW tour of duty at an NSW Training Detachment
  • Two NSW deployments
