Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering A320 Final Phase to join our team based in Mobile, AL.
As part of the ME TSFS Leadership team, the incumbent will assist in coordinating all activities related to ME TSFS team functions within their designated business area. The ME TSFS Manager will ensure that ME TSFS topics are addressed in a timely manner to support production needs and escalation requirements. The incumbent will act as a leader and subject matter expert for their business area and will also be responsible for the training and development of new team members.

Your Working Environment:
On ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges:
Task and Team Management: 50%
Manage the team of ME Technical Shop Floor Support within their respective business area
Manage non-conformities and concessions within assigned area, insure the specific work orders for FAL are released according to the FAL Milestones
Provide technical support to production on all issues within the escalation process.
Manage availability of replacement parts, jigs, and tools required for work.
Manage continuous improvement measures with recurrent non-conformities in cooperation with quality.
Analyze current status, create reports, exchange information and regularly inform the Manufacturing Engineering back office about all notified changes in production.
Manage the training and development of the team members (goals, objectives and annuals reviews…)
Monitor team status to ensure KPIs are being met daily, weekly, monthly and yearly
Facilitate and develop the ME TSFS Team
The Manager of the ME TSFS Team is accountable for the performance of the ME TSFS with their business area.
Participate in the production meetings to manage urgent topics.
Continuous Improvement: 20%
Manage continuous improvement measures with reoccurring non-conformities in cooperation with quality.
Participate as an active team member to support ME activities in the FAL
Project Support: 30%
Creates and updates KPIs for team on assigned projects
Communicates with European colleagues at other manufacturing sites for guidance on repeat or complex issues.
Leads team and anticipates future projects in support of the FAL
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure good relationship with the ME Process Engineering department
Participate as an active team member including providing support to new colleagues and trainees.
Plan regular feedback loops with the Production Team
Subject matter expert on-site for Manufacturing Engineering TSFS processes
Work needs to be in accordance of the Airbus Operating System
Participate actively to the FAL projects
Give priorities to the Team.
Develop / improve and track KPIs for the team
Organize On The Job Training for the team
Perform other duties as assigned (vacation planner; participate in SQCDP/PPC…)
Your Boarding Pass:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering or Equivalent combination of education and experience
Required: 6+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
Preferred: Leadership experience within fast paced manufacturing environment similar to Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site
Preferred: Experience within Aerospace industry
High degree of flexibility and initiative
Proven ability to influence others and lead teams
Proven ability to coordinate several projects and tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in manufacturing engineering.
Knowledge of supply chain management and quality system management.
Knowledge about non-conformities and design query notes.
Have the ability to establish and maintain a good relationship with all internal customers.
Have the ability to work in an international team.
Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives
Preferred
Knowledge of Airbus Industries mechanical process & methods.
Knowledge of Airbus IT-Tools (Zamiz, TAKSY, DocMaster, ECM).
Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM).
Knowledge about aircraft structure installation.
Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practice
Physical Requirements:
Onsite: 100% Onsite
Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice, potentially internationally.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
