Job Description
The Medical Affairs Director provides medical and scientific leadership in glomerular diseases therapy area (IgAN) within GCC. This role will work closely with a cross-functional group to ensure that scientific and medical strategies are aligned with broader corporate and key stakeholder needs and will ensure the flawless execution of the country medical plans, with a primary focus on KSA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Critically interprets scientific data and determines the potential impact of new research on scientific and medical understanding of assigned portfolio
- Shares country/regional insights with global teams to ensure global medical strategies and activities reflect the needs of the country/region
- Provides fair and balanced medical information and education to health care professionals and payers that support the safe and effective use of Vertex medications in the appropriate patients
- Fosters patient access to Vertex medications, by supporting the commercial organization in the preparation/review of reimbursement dossiers and presenting scientific data as required to key stake holders
- Performs/oversees medical/scientific training for field medical teams, commercial, and other internal stakeholders as required
- Contributes to the local Brand Team, representing the therapy area scientific and medical expertise and ensuring all activities address patient well-being and respect data integrity
- Ensures compliance at country level with company policies, medical affairs SOPs, GCP and ICH
- Assesses local promotional materials and ensures that all claims are fully supported by scientific data, and are presented in an accurate, fair and balanced manner
Key Requirements:
- Strong understanding of Nephrology (Kidney disease)
- Experience in writing or reviewing scientific communications
- Good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry International setting
- Ability to develop relationships in a highly matrixed environment, as well as external relationships with leaders and industry experts
- Experience in designing, planning medical strategies and executing medical education and communication activities
- Strong understanding of statistical methods
- Ability to engage in positive dialogue and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner
- Leadership and significant people manager experience.
Education and Experience:
- Scientific background (e.g., Physician, PhD or PharmD)
- Minimum 10 years of medical affairs experience in multinational pharmaceutical in KSA market

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
