Job Description
The role: BIM Operator
BIM/CAD operator will be responsible for creation and implementation of Building Information Models (BIM) for various projects.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and/or manage BIM models for electrical raceway and telecommunication installation
- Run interference detection to detect design clashes to assist project team with coordination process
- Attend weekly coordination meetings and submit weekly updates to Construction management firm.
- Adjust BIM models as directed by Construction Management firm and track changes to coordinate with Project Manager for change order pricing if required
- Create, collect and process various 2D drawings of released areas for field construction
- Manage 3D models for design coordination and submission for approval by Construction Management firm
- Work on-site to update the models to reflect as-built conditions
- Assist the project team with model visualizations
- Provide project team with updated construction drawings as bulletins are released by Construction Management firm
- Manage and use BIM modeling software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks)
- Manage and use coordination, scheduling, programming, file sharing and collaboration platforms.
- Update model as required by bulletins released by Construction Management firm
- Work directly with Project Managers to obtain cut sheets on submitted equipment for modeling and submit RFIs as needed
- Develop length and quantity take-offs for material ordering
- Correspond regularly with Construction Management firm and other Subcontractors
- Obtain electronic files as needed for model coordination
- Update drawing sets as bulletins are approved and released for construction
- Mentor staff
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree and two years minimum experience working in a construction, engineering or architect role or equivalent training, education and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- BIM experience required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards, and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Software experience with NavisWorks, AutoCAD 2018, Revit 2015 (highly preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior experience with electrical design is a plus
