Role Overview

As a Lab Support Staff Coordinator, you will lead operational workflows and support laboratory team performance while ensuring high-quality specimen collection, processing, and service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating daily operations and delegating technical and administrative functions
• Developing staffing plans and monitoring time, attendance, and payroll processes
• Serving as a preceptor and training resource for new hires
• Providing leadership, education, and mentoring to lab support staff
• Monitoring inventory and maintaining appropriate supply levels
• Supporting regulatory compliance and participating in surveys
• Overseeing specimen collection, receipt, and processing for inpatient and outpatient testing
• Communicating with nursing, providers, and external laboratories regarding testing and specimen handling
• Performing phlebotomy and supporting patient specimen collection as needed

Qualifications

Education

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience

Required:

• Clinical or related experience

Preferred:

• Phlebotomy experience

Licensure / Certification

Required:

• Phlebotomy certification within one (1) year of hire (ASCP, ASPT, or AMT) OR
• Completion of BayCare Client Services training (3 approved CBTs and 1 approved class) within one (1) year of hire (only for roles not performing phlebotomy)
