What you'll be doing
As a Director, Limit & Product Monitoring, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) processes and controls meet regulatory requirements and CIBC’s standards by maintaining a robust governance and controls framework. You’ll champion ongoing improvements by streamlining, simplifying, and automating workflows to reduce operational risk and make the most of our resources. Acting as a key stakeholder in the Product Onboarding Workstream (POW), you’ll help facilitate timely approvals, foster effective challenge, and promote transparency in monitoring approval conditions. Your day-to-day will involve overseeing the monitoring and reporting of risk exposures against established limits, as well as ensuring compliance with product authorities across Capital Markets and Treasury desks. You’ll develop and enhance tools and processes to address system or process limitations, collaborating with technology and other partners to implement strategic solutions. Working closely with teams within CMRM and groups such as Internal Audit and Model Validation, you’ll support departmental initiatives, including regulatory projects and infrastructure changes. Your strong background in financial markets and risk management, advanced technical skills, and exceptional communication and leadership abilities will be crucial to your success in this role.

How you'll succeed
Risk Limit and Product Monitoring and Reporting – Oversee the monitoring of daily trading activities against established limits and product authorities to ensure compliance with stipulated authorities and promptly report any excesses.
Process Optimization - Streamline, simplify, and automate processes to reduce operational risk and improve resource allocation across the team and department.
Product Onboarding & Monitoring Alignment - Facilitate alignment between product onboarding and product monitoring, breaking down silos to enhance collaboration.
Documentation & Process Improvement - Enhance documentation of processes, systems, and procedures, highlighting dependencies and proposing improvements.
Regulatory Compliance & Audit Support - Drive CMRM’s compliance with regulatory guidelines, assist with remediation of gaps, and contribute to departmental efforts to address audit findings and recommendations.
Market Risk Hierarchy Management – Oversee, facilitate and drive changes to the Market Risk hierarchy, including testing and syndication of results.
Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with colleagues within CMRM and other groups, such as Model Validation and Internal Audit, to ensure effective risk challenge and seamless transition of accountabilities.

You understand financial markets and products. Your strong knowledge of financial markets and the foundations of risk management enables you to provide effective risk challenge and support compliance efforts.
You have advanced technical skills. You’re proficient in SQL, Python, PowerBI, DataBricks and comfortable working with tools like JIRA to automate and optimize processes.
You’re a leader and a collaborator. You thrive in cross-functional environments, building relationships with colleagues across CMRM and other teams to drive collective success.
You’re highly organized with great communication skills. Your exemplary organization and time management skills, coupled with excellent communication skills, help you manage complex projects and shifting priorities with ease.
You have relevant education. You hold a graduate degree in a quantitative filed and hold certification (e.g., CFA, FRM)
