Job Description

AECOM’s Resources and Industrial (R&I) team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer with demonstrated mining, heavy industry and industrial experience to help drive the technical outcome for a range of projects based out of the Townsville office.

As part of our multi-disciplinary group, you will work across all project phases from studies through to detailed engineering and execution, working across the broader mining sector including underground and open cut, minerals processing, smelting and mining support infrastructure plus general industrial facilities, refineries, sugar mills, ports, water and wastewater installations.

Specifically, this opportunity will require significant technical understanding across a variety of areas including pump and pipe network design, materials handling systems and components, supporting infrastructure, fuel and oil storage and distribution facilities.

How you’ll make a difference

  • A minimum of 5+ years experience in design drafting on mining/industrial related projects is essential
  • Develop detailed concept designs with minimum supervision including design reports, specifications and as-built drawings ensuring innovation and safety is at the forefront of all early discussions
  • The ability to work collaboratively – a team player who enjoys developing engineering solutions in a team environment leveraging from both known technologies and innovative designs
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships ensuring clear communication and alignment of project goals.

The qualities that help you thrive

  • Recognised qualification (e.g. Associate Degree, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, or equivalent)
  • Highly proficient understanding of one or more core software packages including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SteelCAD, Navisworks and MicroStation
  • Revit experience advantageous
