Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator/Supervisor, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, conducts a variety of routine experiments where methodologies are clearly established. 100% FTE.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Routine tests may include receiving and processing specimens from participants in clinical studies, including separating plasma, cells, and serum; preparing cells for cryopreservation; establishing HIV-1 cultures at the Landsdowne Core Lab.
2. Prepare specimens for shipment in accordance with all applicable shipping regulations.
3. Learn how to store, generate labels, and record data in LDMS.
4. Order common lab and ACTG processing supplies and check supply inventory routinely.
5. Review ACTG SOPs and documents for updated process.
6. Maintains specimen inventory in accordance with laboratory and processing procedures.
7. Routine communication with ACTG network and non-network groups and update the study information.
8. Train new ACTG tech when necessary and keep up with ACTG certification maintenance.
9. Help with chemical, instruments/equipment inventory and other sample inventory.
10. Help with lab organization and maintenance under direction.
11. Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
12. Prepares laboratory reagents as needed.
13. May need to help some administrative tasks with Harvard University Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the Harvard/Brigham Virology Specialty Laboratory (VSL).
14. Will be able to engage in laboratory research projects as time and interest allow.
15. Be able to move boxes and supplies as needed.
16. All other duties, as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required

Experience
- Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment 1-2 years preferred
- Long-term commitment preferred: 2+ years of work commitment strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
