Pediatrics - House Staff Education (Instructor - Chief Resident)

The Department of Pediatrics - House Staff Education is currently seeking a chief resident who will serve as a direct report to the pediatric program director. Job duties include patient care, teaching, and administration. Those duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

PATIENT CARE:

• Direct care of patients at the Harris County Hospital District Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic in Pasadena.

 

TEACHING:

• Supervision/teaching of medical students; Supervision/teaching of residents.
• Providing patient care at Texas Children's Hospital and the Harris County Hospital District hospitals and clinics.
• Scheduling and conducting teaching conferences.
• Orientation of residents to their rotations.
• Assist in evaluating and providing feedback to residents and medical students.

 

ADMINISTRATION:

• Serve as the primary liaison between residents and faculty members.
• Creation and maintenance of residents’ yearly and daily schedules.
• Helping ensure all regulatory requirements (e.g., those of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) with respect to residents are met.
• Help address personnel issues involving residents (e.g., interpersonal conflicts, absence due to illness)
