Description of Work
This is supervisory work, assisting in the direction of the housekeeping program at a State Hospital. Positions supervise housekeeping functions within a major section of the housekeeping program, typically supervising at least Five Housekeeping Supervisor II positions.Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Housekeeping Supervisor III – Assistant Director of Environmental Services (EVS) to assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the EVS department in a State Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a backup to the EVS Director and to provide supervision of assigned Housekeeping Supervisor II positions. This position is needed to ensure that the quality and quantity of work performed adheres to established standards and that work assignments are adjusted to meet requirements for the provision of services in the designated area(s).
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Serving as the backup to the EVS Director.
•Determining housekeeping needs within the assigned area(s)
•Scheduling and assigning work to Housekeeping Supervisor II’s to ensure adequate coverage for the provision of services
•Providing in-service training as needed and based on performance improvement indicators
•Providing daily rounds to inspect for cleanliness, maintenance needs, quality of work, timeliness of services provided, adequacy of supplies and equipment, and safety hazards or faulty equipment
•Checking for presence/absence of group members as they report to duty.
•Conferring with other Hospital staff to assess the need to alter work schedule as may be determined by special events or activities in the assigned area.
•Arranging for additional assistance as necessary to provide services.
•Providing performance evaluations and feedback for direct and indirect staff
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $41,206.00 - $72,113.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Demonstrated experience with managing or overseeing a housekeeping program, including establishing cleaning procedures, managing supply and equipment needs, and/or controlling inventory.
Demonstrated experience planning and/or scheduling workloads and/or special projects.
Experience supervising employees.
Demonstrated experience preparing and/or maintaining required records, reports, and/or budget information.
Management Preferences:
Strong demonstrated understanding of infection prevention standards (especially in healthcare settings)
Demonstrated experience tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), quality audits, and/or performance metrics
Conditional Requirements: Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00am - 3:00pm; however, flexibility in work schedule may be required for training or to meet hospital needs.

Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
