Job Description
The Solution Architect is responsible for the design and development of IT Solutions and architecture for J.D. Irving, Limited companies. They have a broad and deep technical knowledge and experience across varying infrastructure requirements, development, design, and re-engineering. They serve as technical experts on solutions design and analyze the functionality and constraints of recommended solutions/changes across multiple systems/platforms/applications. We are seeking a Solution Architect with experience in Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing to continue to enhance our team’s varied background and experience.
The Solution Architect brings value to J.D. Irving, Limited companies by ensuring the solutions designed are aligned with the enterprise architecture standards and guidelines while meeting business objectives.
This position requires full-time on-site presence.
Guide on the effective use of solutions and architectures in order to achieve business outcomes in alignment with business requirements
Provide solution architecture design and recommendations to project team
Understand business and technical requirements to provide solutions enabling business goals and support delivery outcomes
Lead in designing, specifying, and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure, scalability and performance
Ensure alignment with the overall Business, Application, Information and Technology principals
Contribute to Enterprise Architecture principles and methods
Update the Enterprise Architecture repository maintaining impacted components, relationships, and attributes
Lead the organization in leveraging emerging technology and use knowledge of IT solutions to drive organizational change and support business process design
Understand and support to software architecture design and support development team in developing solutions
Estimate cost, and prepare business cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licenses, development, and support
Work with the Project Managers and Business Analysts to develop project schedule tasks and resource plans for solution delivery
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Info Systems, Business Management, or related discipline
5-7 years’ experience in a similar position, including 10 years in a professional IT environment
TOGAF – The Open Group certified
Experience providing technical direction to less experienced team members
Experience working in enterprise architecture/solution design in a diverse IT environment
Experience creating design documents for solutions
Strong technical background complimented with excellent communication and problem solving and critical thinking skills
Good understanding of solution designs relevant to commercial off the Shelf (COTS) including enterprise systems
Experience with web application architecture, trends and emerging technologies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
