Job Description
Position Description: Plan, forecast, lead, direct and coordinate work of Self-Perform Operations (SPO) staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on large or complex concrete projects. Oversee implementation of planned work for adherence to contracted scope for safety, schedule sequence, quality of work performed, and production planning and tracking. Supervise Trade labor in concrete or other areas of responsibility. Essential Duties Key Responsibilities: Oversee jobsite safety program in collaboration with EH S team to support SPO team members and Trades to comply with standards and applicable safety codes and regulations. Oversee development and lead communication of site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) for use in field. Foster workplace environment where all people demonstrate highest standards of care for each other using Turner’s Active Caring philosophy. Thoroughly understand project scope, complexity and contract across assigned projects. Oversee team of Self-Perform Operations (SPO) Forepersons and multiple SPO Superintendents on large and complex concrete and general Trades SPO projects Develop and implement overall SPO concrete work schedules and integrate into main project schedule to facilitate, monitor, and maintain team productivity. Anticipate and identify critical path items and constraints impacting schedules to enable consistent and productive work progress. Understand, oversee, and validate construction layout and surveying plans and performance across assigned projects. • Validate and confirm resource management plan, communicate, and implement performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and SPO Trade staffing levels provided by SPO Superintendents. Establish production requirements with SPO Superintendents and Trades Foreperson and measure results weekly, oversee progress to promote coordinated project operations, and adjust work practices and crew assignments to boost production where possible. Monitor and report installed quantities and percentage of completion for SPO concrete tasks. Lead team in weekly production meetings for progress and status. Manage hiring and termination decisions related to Trade labor, maintaining communication of decisions with General Superintendent and SPO Trades Manager. Develop and maintain relationships with various labor sources to identify qualified labor to fulfill project staffing needs. Serve as escalation point to resolve local area problems related to procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor, and equipment schedule across assigned projects. Supervise and develop SPO Trade Forepersons; provide constructive development feedback and contribute to or complete performance appraisals. Identify issues, investigate solutions, communicate approach, discuss and/or resolve field issues with Project leaders, Trade Forepersons, Owners, Owner’s Representatives, Architects, and Engineers, as appropriate. • Collaborate with SPO Project Manager to oversee weekly, estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications. Manage installation of work in compliance with approved contract documents. • Monitor and confirm accuracy of estimated quantities and manage procurement of materials. • Assist with bidding work to review productivity and approach for implementing work. Perform constructability reviews and analyze drawings to identify specified components that may cause construction constraints to be resolved. Assign and validate team’s use of continuous improvement methodologies for construction methods such as Last Planner System(LPS) for proactive scheduling. Initiate and communicate continuous improvement concepts and practices to team in support of working efficiently, enhancing programs, coordinating, and reducing waste. Apply active listening skills to remain open to suggestions and encourage recommendations from team. May supervise team of SPO Superintendents employees and participate in hiring process, onboard and deliver timely performance feedback, contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with employee development needs.
