Job Description

The Information School’s Center for an Informed Public (CIP) has an outstanding opportunity for an Education Initiatives Manager to join their team. Although the position is open until filled, the priority deadline is June 23rd.

About this Opportunity

The Education Initiatives Manager at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public (CIP) leads the design, development, and delivery of educational programs that help educators and communities navigate today’s complex information environment. Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Operations, this role serves as the primary subject matter expert and facilitator for CIP’s signature programs, including MisinfoDay, the Community Fellowship, Media Mentorship, and the Loki’s Loop game series, while building the systems, partnerships, and practitioner networks that sustain and expand this work across Washington and beyond. Working closely with teachers, librarians, community educators, researchers, and external partners, the Education Initiatives Manager translates evolving research on information literacy into accessible, research-backed resources, supports scalable and replicable program models, and strengthens a growing network of practitioners reaching thousands of educators and more than 70,000 students statewide. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly organized, collaborative, and mission-driven professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute to the University of Washington’s leadership in information literacy, education, and public impact.

  • Serve as the lead facilitator for CIP's signature programs, including MisinfoDay, the Community Fellowship, Media Mentorship, and Loki's Loop.
  • Ensure high-quality program delivery through strong day-of coordination, effective facilitation of advisory groups, responsive support for media inquiries, and continuous improvement based on participant feedback and evaluation.

Program Relations & Outreach (20%)

  • Foster ongoing engagement with fellows, mentors, alumni, and partners to support program success and sustain long-term connections.
  • Represent CIP at conferences, meetings, and community events, while strengthening a practitioner network that generates new ideas, shared learning, and partnership opportunities.

Participant & Volunteer Experience (15%)

  • Oversee participant management processes, including registration and related logistics, to create a smooth and welcoming program experience.
  • Coordinate travel support for participants and develop effective volunteer systems that include recruitment, training, supervision, and ongoing engagement.
