
Aquatic Program Leader / Department of Parks and Recreation
Job Description
This Aquatics Program Leader is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of assigned Aquatic Center(s), planning and scheduling programming, and activities for clients, as well as completing and maintaining records, such as class registrations, attendance records, deposits and financial reports and facility usage. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the internal staff and programming offered in public trainings through organizations, assessments and implementations
Essential Duties
- Instructing clients on the fundamentals of the assigned Parks and Recreation programs
- Assisting citizens with questions and concerns regarding Aquatic Programming
- Assisting with marketing assigned programs by speaking at events, distributing flyers, and writing newsletters
- Processing registration forms and completes refund requests
- Assisting in evaluating the operations of assigned programs
- Maintains records and other documentation regarding daily program activities and operations such as class registrations, attendance records, deposits and financial reports, and facility usage
- Engaging in daily public interactions with patrons and external entities to create lasting relationships and positive customer experiences
- Engaging in maintaining ongoing internal communications through various forms, such as email, phone, and other technologies
- Assisting with instructor and staff scheduling across sites and differing programs, in a manner that maintains safety and quality of service
- Working towards positive and engaging staff experiences to maintain staff retention and morale, to drive quality of service and maintaining staffing numbers with high levels of experience
- Performing other duties of a similar nature or level
- Assisting with staff trainings, volunteers and Community Partners by engaging in presentations, verbal and written communications, as well as guiding groups or individuals
- Participating in staff meetings, Community Partner meetings, etc.
- Engaging in forward facing interactions with customers and other departments
The grade for this position is grade. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
- Associate degree in parks and recreation AND
- One year of parks and recreation, pool operator, aquatic facility operator experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License
- The following certifications are required (within 1 year of hire). Please attach the certifications to your application:
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Lifeguard Training Certification
- Water Safety Instructor Certification
- Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification
