Job Description
Fleetway’s Transition to Service department is seeking a Senior Human Systems Integration (HSI) Specialist to join the team.
As a Senior HSI Specialist, you will play a critical role in integrating human considerations into system design and development to optimize performance, reduce risk, and ensure operational effectiveness throughout the system life cycle. This position oversees compliance with Human Systems Integration (HSI) and Human Factors Engineering (HFE) requirements, coordinating activities across domains such as personnel, training, safety, and workload.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in HSI and HFE who can provide strategic oversight and ensure human factors are fully integrated into complex systems.

- Develop, execute, and maintain Human Factors Engineering (HFE) and Human Systems Integration (HSI) activities in alignment with program plans, regulatory requirements, and DND policy.
- Ensure verification and validation requirements are met through human integration testing to support usability and safety.
- Provide guidance and oversight for the development, documentation, and assessment of HFE and HSI deliverables, ensuring they meet program objectives and enhance user experience.
- Evaluate engineering changes to identify and communicate impacts, risks, and issues related to design, integration, testing, and acceptance activities.
- Collaborate with Integrated Project Teams and Working Groups, contributing HSI and HFE expertise to support inclusive and effective system design.
Education:
- Degree in a relevant field such as Human Factors Engineering, Behavioral Science, Industrial Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- Equivalent years of applied experience may offset formal educational requirements.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience applying Human Systems Integration (HSI) specialty in a system design environment.
- Proven ability to provide strategic oversight and ensure compliance with HSI/HFE requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
- Experience with marine systems is preferred.
